Subversion is a revision control system similar to CVS or Visual Source Safe, designed to help you track and manage changes to your project's source code. Git is a content tracking system designed to manage information including but not limited to source code and assets. Git differs from Subversion and other systems in that each copy of the repository is complete and self-contained.
